IDeA Agro (2018)
First Italian private equity fund dedicated to investments in agricultural businesses, situated in Italian territory and operating in an eco-sustainable manner. An investment in Italy with a direct impact on the country’s real economy.
IDeA Agro, by means of the company Agro Gold Società Agricola Srl, has sponsored the “Progetto Kiwi Giallo”, which consists in the long-term leasing of approximately 100 hectares of land in the province of Latina (Lazio), which is the most suitable area in Italy for kiwi production. The objective is to convert these 100 hectares into a kiwi SunGold grove and merge it with an already established kiwi grove of 60 hectares. Agrintesa, the project’s operational partner, is one of the four Italian licensees of the Zespri consortium (owner of SunGold variety rights). Agrintesa, in addition to managing the packaging and distribution to Zespri, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Agro Gold. The decision to invest in the production of SunGold yellow kiwi is driven by several elements including the fact that this variety allows for a higher yield and higher prices than traditional yellow kiwis.
